Broadcast live on BBC 1 on Good Friday 2014, The Great North Passion focused on the community of South Shields and surrounding areas in the retelling of the story of the Passion. Twelve artists worked with communities in the North East to create themed art works housed in shipping containers which were arranged to form a giant cross. The programme was produced in partnership with the Cultural Spring.
A six-part drama commissioned from BBC Drama for BBC1 which was broadcast in Easter 2008. Written by Frank Deasy, who wrote the script for Bleak House, and set in the first century, it followed the story of Holy Week from Palm Sunday to Easter Day. The series was shot in Morocco.
Jerusalem Productions has invested in one feature film, Man Dancin’ which follows the story of Jimmy, a Glaswegian criminal who comes out of prison a changed man. As part of his probation he is persuaded to take part in a Passion Play, which results in conflicts between his old and new worlds. Jimmy is played by Alex Ferns, and the film is directed by Norman Stone and produced by Ray Marshall. It was released on 20th February 2004.
